A SMALL WOODEN VESSEL
My little one was completely smitten with this small wooden vessel that I thrifted for $2. Right away he placed it on the table in front of him, out of the wrapped paper, and pulled off the lid. He looked inside, and actually pretended to pick something up out of it, then looked at me. I laughed inside because I knew what he was thinking, “uh mama shouldn’t there be something inside? or no just imagine?” I asked him if he wanted to place something inside. He answered “uh huh,... CREATING A MONTESSORI SPACE AT HOME
My Montessori Experience What I love about Montessori is based mostly on my own personal experience. I went to Montessori for the pre-primary years (ages 2.5-5) and then back again for 2nd grade. My two older boys attended for three years each as well. Some of my favorite parts of the Montessori method include: working with simple, natural materials in a prepared, child-sized environment, and having the freedom for a small child to move about the space and learn at their own pace. This setting fosters independence, and promotes the... Read The Rest →

INDIA ON MY MIND
My grandmother celebrates her 90th birthday today, and my father traveled to India to celebrate with her. In the photo above, my grandmother is in the middle, with my grandfather behind her and my dad (the baby) on my great aunt’s lap. My sister had prints made of these family photos for all of us and I finally ordered a beautiful magenta linen to make custom mattes for them. Stunning 1940′s family in India, right? Happy Birthday Thakuma! I spoke to her this morning on the phone, and it seems... Read The Rest →
NO NAP FRIDAY
Hey it’s Friday! It seems my last two days of photos on Instagram are color coordinated. All along, I had planned to write up “real-time” journal posts during my 22 month old’s nap time, and daily. Some days that works. Some days that does not work. I know I could try the late night journal blogging that a lot of moms do, and I did that when I was starting joyababy. I spent a lot of nights up sewing and working and subsequently a lot of days half asleep. I... Read The Rest →

VINTAGE THRIFTING | MY FINDS
What can I say, you take this family into any store and we most likely will come out with books in hand. We love to be surrounded by books, new ones, old ones, books for the kids, books for the baby, reference books, cookbooks, novels and travel books. These travel books above had me at their awesome font, and well I love those places. I also love the square photos inside that almost look like instagram photos from yesteryear. We haven’t traveled abroad any time recently so more reason to... Read The Rest →
LABOR DAY WEEKEND | FOOD ALLERGY FRIENDLY STRAWBERRY PANCAKES
We spent this last holiday weekend in a state of laziness, including a return to bed for both my husband and I after breakfast, for reading and relaxing. It felt great because we have a busy fall schedule up ahead. We had big breakfasts at a leisurely pace and at a leisurely time. We played board games with the boys and watched the Lorax as a family (loved the movie). The weather was wet, so we stayed indoors mostly. We had a nice dinner with family on Sunday. I spent...
